Shower Screens
If you have been contacted by B&Q you will be aware that despite stringent quality control systems being in place, a potential safety issue has been identified with the plastic hinge brackets of some of our shower screen products listed below.
We have found in a small number of cases that hairline cracks have appeared in the hinge brackets. These hairline cracks could result in the total failure of either the top or bottom hinge bracket, potentially releasing the screen/panel from its’ mounting bracket and the shower screen falling. This may cause personal injury and/or damage to the shower screen and surrounding fittings.
You should stop using the screen/enclosure immediately and replace the hinge brackets with the replacement metal hinge brackets that B&Q are sending to customers.
Important! Safety Notice. How to change your shower screen hinge brackets
We are in the process of contacting customers who purchased one of the products in the identified period. As a responsible company, we will be sending two replacement metal hinge brackets and instructions for re-installation so that remedial work can be completed, this will involve the re-installation of the shower/bath screen using new metal hinge brackets.
