Product information

This superb evergreen Eucalyptus has been skilfully fashioned into a standard tree by expert nurserymen to give a superb plant to grace a sunny border or large patio pot. It'll give a superb display throughout the year but is at it's best in spring and summer as fresh new leaves emerge, deepening from grey green to a bluer shade as the waxy patina develops. The mature stems are an additional attraction as the grey bark naturally peels revealing creamy paler layers beneath. A hardy tree that will withstand the worst of weather this specimen Eucalyptus will make a beautiful permanent feature in your garden. Prune in early spring as this will encourage the attractive young foliage to develop. Supplied as an established tree, approx. 60-100cm tall in a 2L pot, ready to pot on or plant out.

  • Plant position - Sunny areas or partial shade
  • Flowering period - summer
  • Planting Advice: Eucalyptus is best grown in full sun with shelter from strong winds when they are young. Pot-grown plants can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen. If in doubt, err towards spring but remember to keep pots well-watered so that the soil does not dry out. Dig a planting hole 3 x wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the plant is in place. Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain. Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots. Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker. Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot, then refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling). Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball. Water well. Pruning Advice: Prune in early spring to maintain the shape. In the second or third spring, cut back to 60-90cm (2-3ft) from the ground for pollards or 5-7.5cm (2-3in) for coppiced plants. Pinch side shoots to encourage further branching. In subsequent years, cut back annually or every few years to the previous stubs. Apply a balanced general-purpose fertiliser each spring.
  • Cut back hard every few years to maintain shape.
  • H5 - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters (-15 to -10°C)

Not worth the money.

I got one of the plants at the small end of the scale, I measured it and was under 60cms and only had a few branches on, which one fell off when I got it you of the box. Very disappointed !
