Fit For Muliple Surfaces
I really wish B&Q would sort their reviews out!!! Everytime I read a review section, it seems to have reviews from a variety of products. So, to be clear, this is a review of Valspar Trade Interior Primer & Undercoat Dark Grey. It says its for walls and ceilings, but I've used it on wood, mdf, hardboard, plasterboard and even over old oil based paint on a radiator. It's thick, but has a fantastic flow and spread. It's not an incredibly dark grey while wet, but does dry a bit darker. I've used lots of different books and dark colours over the top of this and never had a problem with colour consistency, flashing or needed more than 2 coats (apart from a job i did where the customer insisted on a Dulux standard emulsion, but that's cos it's the worst paint out there lol - if you know, you know lol). Just doing a job with it at the moment and the client is colour drenching her hallway and stairs in Valspar "Nevermore" just finished priming the banister & spindles and I wish I could upload a picture of what this printer looks like dry. Perfect, solid, grey. Over years of oil-based white gloss (yellow really). Just done my final scratch tests and it's bonded beautifully. Cheaper than zinsser, better than Dulux, and a proper all rounder to use when priming interior surfaces, ready for bold and dark colours. Amazing stuff!!!

A great colour blocker
I love all Valspar Trade paints. This primer is excellent to for hiding bold colours especially when your applying a completely different finished colour. It hid the green great and the grey was a great base coat for the blue. It was lovely to apply by brush and roller with handly and overspray

Bad workers blame bad paint
This trade primer is amazing! I've been using valspar (correctly and as a professional in the trade) for years! Can't understand some of these reviews. Some say it's like thick glue, then others say it's like water. Are these reviews actually about the same product???? Stir/shake properly! Try applying with foam roller. Don't keep going over where you just painted, it WILL stick to the applicator (quick drying...duh). I've used this on new wood, old wood, mdf and even over pvc! If used properly, it's just amazing!

Good product
Good product and was a good base layer before applying top coat

Great coverage, and easy to apply.
Bought this product as I was not impressed with the more expensive Dulux product. In my opinion this Valspar paint is better and costs a lot less.

If you value your sanity- stay away!
At first I thought it was just me, but after reading the reviews I realise that it is just a bad product. It has a glue-like consistency and clumps together on the wall. The more you try and go over it, the worse it gets. Great if you are planning an Artex revival, but otherwise stay clear!!
