Never used before

New to painting furniture, so thought for my second painted piece I would try the crackle look, as I like different. Went to my local B&Q and away we go and reduced also. Purchased the last two tins of base coat and top coat. Decided to do a test run on left over flooring, and loved the results. Easy to use and gave the desired effect. Once I’ve done a piece of furniture I’ll upload if it turns out well. It states to use Matt paint, but I did half the plank in satin just to see the effect. The lighter side is the Matt, which I prefer but both look nice. Also wanted some good home brilliant white blue tin,Shelf’s were empty, project on hold. Looks like a lot of people are loving the good home range. Well back to the plank, I used good home undercoat first, then Meriden flat Matt and brilliant white, before the crackle application. Then hey presto it came out looking on point.

Great product when done correctly

I bought this product to paint two bedside cabinets....my first attempt didn't go well and ended up stripping it down and starting again. This time round I'd read the other review on this site and that helped no end. I left the base coat to dry overnight and then painted the second colour.....but this time I made sure the surface I was painting was flat so the paint didn't slide......I let that dry and then did the other sides the same way. HINT: the top coat product seems to leave brownish marks in places so I'm going to try a clear vanish spray this time.

Easy to use

I have used other crackle mediums before, but this was the first time I had used the Rust-oleum brand. It was a bit thicker than what I had used before, but it worked well, and the end result on my piece of furniture was good. The price for the quantity also seemed good value for money. If you haven't used crackle medium before, you will need to do tests with your object and paint as the crackle does have a tendency to 'slide' on vertical surfaces because it is a bit thick...but it just isnt practical to crackle only horizontal surfaces (esp when refinishing a large wooden wardrobe).
