Good but not perfect
The preservative is very good, though I'd have preferred less glossy. However, if you're using silicon filler, the stain doesn't take, even if you've tried to remove any filler. Fortunately I'd used brown filler so it looked reasonable, but beware!

User friendly and lasts well
This woodstain is excellent. It is very easy to apply and it spreads and covers well and lasts for years. Although the colour fades slightly over time, it lasts much longer than paint does and looks better for longer than paint does. Brushes clean easily and can be reused. Only one coat is usually needed to give a long-lasting protection to fascias, doors, gates and windows.
