Great Ride on Mower
I have recently purchased this mower and had a few concerns after the reading the other reviews. On the whole I am delighted with the product I purchased it to take on very over grown and tough paddock, it handled mowing very wet grass after days or rain and even managed to tackle some area's where the grass was 12cm plus high and hadn't been cut for 3 months. It fits through a normal 3ft garden gate and can be emptied from the seat. like I say my paddock is far from a normal garden and whilst I have to be sensible knowing it cannot take on the area's that are more like rough moor land with huge mounds of grass and uneven ground (it would need a plough and real tracker to sort out) its great at doing what is was designed for and that is cut grass. For the cost compared to many of the larger machines I am really pleased and I have to say the service and support from Mountfield is superb.

Not that bad
OK so I bought this last year, was upset at first that it couldn't be emptied from the seat but since I fitted the mulching kit this isn't a concern. My garden is 1 1/2 acres and I try and get it cut once a week. In this frequency the mower does a great job and for the price I am now more than happy.

No issues after 3 yrs of common sense usage!
Felt the need to rescue the reviews here. Whilst i could rant on about trying to cut long wet grass on a slope.. common sense has to prevail. You get what you pay for! I've had one of these for 3 years purchased from B&Q with zero issues. It cuts 1/3 Acre each time no problem. I don't pretend to be able to cut wet grass or very long grass - I just keep the grass about 3" long and the mower copes very well.

Do Not Buy!
This is possibly the worst imitation of a lawn mower that I have ever encountered. As a mower it is simply gutless unless you are cutting nice dry grass less than four inches high. Any other conditions will have you out of your seat tipping the mower over sideways to clear the blades and chute time after time after frustrating time. The metal making up the steering mechanism is just not up to the job. The forces experienced in any garden with a wall or tree stumps encountered even at low speed in bottom gear will distort and fracture the track rod end, and if you reinforce that will simply transfer the load to the track rod that will bend like a banana repeatedly. Unless you have a perfectly flat obstruction free lawn that is already mown low -- do yourself a favour and avoid this abomination. My previous ride on lasted nineteen years so I am not some sort of ham fisted monster. This is just not fit for purpose.

Does what it says on the can
It's a geared mower, as opposed to a hydrostatic gearbox, so not so easy to 'drive'. Wet grass will clog up shoot and result in not picking up. However it cuts reasonably well, although if you stay still with blades engaged (such as changing from a forward gear to reverse) you will see the shape of the circular blade cut on the lawn. However for the money it' seems to be good value. Will wait and se maintenance costs.
