- Remove the plants from the bag of compost and soak them in water for 3-4 hours. Dig soil improver and bonemeal in to the planting area before planting Remove faded flowers to proling flowering. Top dress with a general purpose plant food as the last flowers fade. Allow foliage to die down naturally. Dutch Iris give best result in the first year.
