Not built to last.
Initially I was pleased with this planer, light and easy to use, did the job well. However, I'm glad I didn't feedback after my initial use. After not really getting that much use in the warranty period of 2 years, I thought there would be more mileage out of it than what I got. Just after turning the blades that had worn, the planer then starts smoking. I see sparks coming from the brushes, which I then filed back and removed any burrs etc, but still it sparks and smokes and therefore unable to use. Changing the blades wasn't straight forward either. When tightening the locking screws the block holding the blade must lift at one side as it was not cutting even. It took an hour or so of gently tightening and adjusting before getting somewhere near, but not perfect. Given the problems within such a short time frame (by usage), this has to be my worst purchase of a power tool. As they say, pay cheap pay twice.

Exellent Plane
I had this bought for Christmas and used it straight away fitting some doors. The plane did a first class job in taking off 3 to 4mm in seconds straight and true. I found the plane to be quite heavy and the sawdust collection bag fills very quickly because of its small size and a small amount of sawdust does squeeze out from the other opening in the plane. But with spare belt and rotor blades this is a fine acquisition to my tool collection and would certainly recommend

Great Product and very pleased with it.
Only a recent purchase but needed to plane some internal doors and I am very pleased with the product and glad that I purchased it. Was a little surprised at the weight but once I had tested it on some spare wood I found it easy to use and I am very pleased with the end result. The planing depth adjuster starts at 0.25mm but I found you could plane off less than this. Just keep an eye on the dust bag as it fills up very quickly.

Plane Simple
I would class myself as an intermediate DIY'er, but have never really got on with manual planers; so after reading the positive reviews here, I decided for the price it might be the perfect tool for my current needs (trimming wood strips for 2 garden benches) Comes in a huge plastic box! Contains a detailed user manual (with a few typos and lots and lots of H&S notices!), the planer itself, a dust bag, parallel guide, spare blades and a couple of hex keys. Surprisingly, the planer wasn't all that heavy, even for my small feminine arms and hands. But it is worth reading the manual to familiarise yourself with the planer and its operation. For what I wanted I didn't need to fit the guide, but it was useful to have the option of which side of the planer to attach the dust bag. And of course the knob at the front can be turned to the required cut (but always start off small) I did a couple of practice runs on some spare timber; not too noisy at all, although despite the dust bag, it still spurted out quite a bit dust (best do this outside if possible). 10 minutes later I had completed lobbing off 4 mm of dead wood from my 6 planks, nice smooth level finish, and all slotted home perfectly into the slots of my bench. 5 minutes later the planer was dusted down and packed away. Job done! So very easy (at least for my basic jobs); very little effort required other than concentration. And definitely worth the 50 odd quid!

Why didn't I get one sooner?
I have used this for about a month and love the easy of use and build quality. It is perfect for the odd job that used to take hours with a hand plane.

Unsurpassable value
I am a professional joiner and have a heavy Hitachi planer which is as old as the hills, I bought this for its lightness and super quality fence. It's lightness means it can be operated on its side and the shavings can be shot away from your face by the lever to direct shavings either way. It worked brilliantly on an ash wardrobe system I was installing and has since been used to shoot Oak doors in, which is when the fence was invaluable for the bevelled bottom. You can get a brilliant cut subject to setting blades correctly, with the motor it's a little underpowered but is really quite quiet! Just take it a little easier than with a heavy duty planer and it does all that can be expected. Very good value I thoroughly recommend this tool. The fence is a cast ally unit with plenty of bearing.
