Great Price but Poor Quality
Not available to view in store, so I ordered this for some small simple (but critical size) drilling in to aluminium (nothing difficult but not capable with this drill) I know that you get what you pay for BUT this product borders on the dangerous (in my opinion) Any machining were clamping is not secure is a major risk. Both the table & vice were visibly curved (in opposite direction) effectively having point contact on top of the arcs, so even clamping the vice meant that it was not rigid & secure - they both appeared to have been (badly) hand linished 'flat' leaving them both distorted, where the norm would be a machined finish to ensure flatness. The quill ran out meaning that the drill cut oversize holes (& I only tried in wood even though I bought it to drill metal) I had to force the top open to access the belt drive to change drill speed as the lock screw & catch (made of thin sheet metal) were distorted so the screw just rotated & did not undo. All in all after a few days, I returned the item as having to 'fight' the drill to get a half decent job was annoying to say the least & not worth the effort, so I gave in & nagged a friend to let me borrow his. That said, it was easy to install (& dismantle) the quality of the chuck seemed high & to exceed the quality of the rest of the product & overall the drill offered a better speed range that it's (price range) competitors so maybe I was just unlucky!

Cant drill
Cant handle and wood. As soon as you get a few mm into wood drill bit locks up and belt just slips.

Good Qualtiy
I brought this drill about 2 weeks ago and it started off to a good start. But unfortunately, the belt on the motor and spindle keep slipping when I try to drill. Any recommendations on another one?

Ok for the price/ home use .
Out of the box drill would not work , had a quick look at it and it turned out to be the small plastic bracket that operates the micro switch in the belt cover this had been set to low so when the cover was first shut it broke .Glued it back together set it correctly now a drill that worked . But the second problem after it had been used 4 or 5 times the drill head stopped turning when drilling, motor, belts and pulleys where all rotating but not the Chuck. There is a small grub screw that holds the pulley to the Chuck spindle and tightened against a flat on the shaft this had come loose allowing the pulley to turn on the shaft very poor. This repaired and fitted correctly ie new grub screw/ dimple the shaft for the grub screw to tighten into and a small amount of loctite the drill work's fine for my home use . With my over 60 discount this was a cheap drill might not have been so happy if I had paid full price so sort of did not mind fixing it rather than getting a replacement .

Good Machine for Price
This is quite a good machine for the price. Was expecting problems with runout but was quite good so ended up with a straight hole. Vice is not the best but adequate for the job, and a lot of other ones I looked at didn't include one so would cost extra £15-20 on top. Didn't take long to put together. On the whole not a bad machine.
