Gloss takes ages to dry

Glossing an enclosed porch door. Love this colour, which matches our kitchen door, painted by a previous owner. Like many F&B paints, changes a lot with the light. But I was misled by the instructions on the can. For 'two hours to dry, ready for another coat in 4', substitute 'still sticky after 24 hours, leave 48 hours before sanding before second coat.' I wouldn't mind, but we have guests coming at the weekend and it has all got a bit fraught!
