Lovely addition to my garden!

We had this delivered about a month ago and have only just been able to assemble it as our paving has just been finished. It is definitely a two person job. We found we had to make a slight adjustment to the centre back slats to get them to fit (saw a small amount off the top slat at each end) as the earlier part of the diagram didn't make it clear that the side seat slats should be proud of the back support to allow them to fit in. Diagrams in the instructions could do with being a bit bigger to clarify certain joins, now I've done one, it would be easier to build another one!! As for the finish, the colour is lovely, and I am pleased it is pre-finished, but there are several paint runs, and some of the timber, especially on the trellis work is a little bit roughened. Still, all adds to the character!! Overall, for just over £300 I am really pleased with it, but if joinery is not your thing, it may be worth paying for the assembly service.

Very flimsy wood

As we were putting it together some of the wood kept splitting seems very flimsy

Looking good

Now this is built and in position it is looking very good. However, building It isn't a job for someone who isn't D.I.Y proficient. The assembly isn't easy, the design could be better. Eg:- There are a number of screws in positions where it is virtually impossible to get a screw driver, and why does the manufacturer expect the customer to drill the holes. One complaint..... For the price, I would have expected the seat to have been sanded smooth before it was painted. Delivery was good and as planned, albeit after a phone call on the day and a text saying it was going to be delayed. Just has the text saying it was not coming arrived, there was a knock on the coor saying it was here.

A lovely addition to the garden.

The arbour looks lovely. It was fairly easy to assemble. I think it will look fab with climbing plants growing around it next summer. I'm glad we went for this colour it's

Not straight forward.

Came on a pallet - no problem. Reasonably well made BUT the instructions are not the worlds best. No pre-drilled holes, with some recommended drilling locations difficult to get a drill to and not damage wood (and you will need a tape measure). Definitely a two man job. That said, now up and looks good

Blood Sweat & Expletives!

I wish we had heeded the previous reviewer and got a professional in to build it - as unless there are at least 2 strong, confident people with extensive knowledge of DIY carpentry this is a very difficult project! It is not just flat-packed ready with pre-drilled assembly (as we are used to with other companies) BUT needs to be MADE - with measurements, holes drilled, levels checked and strong muscle to hand-screw in some places where areas are too tight for electric drivers! Instructions are complex and size of screws stated do not always work! It is very heavy to manoeuvre and move but difficult to build in corner situ as all round access is needed! It took us (mature couple) appx 12 hours over 3 days to erect! And we still have a huge heavy wooden pallet (delivery packing) to dispose of!!? It does look good when finished although not perfect! but for the price it is disappointing that it was not delivered in more customer-friendly format and with hindsight we would definitely NOT attempt to make another!

Bloopa Chiltern Arbor

I have purchased and constructed this arbor and it's not for the faint hearted. The arbor is made of good materials and is well finished with stain protection. Building the arbor from the instructions wasn't always clear and to build the frame you need 360 degree access which if building in a corner could be problematic. Otherwise it was an excellent buy which provided me a challenge over several hour. If this is your first attempt at DIY, I would strongly consider getting help from an experience set of hands.
