Lightly sand in direction of grain, removing any decayed wood down to dry, sound materials. Work tube between fingers. Apply with a filling tool, pressing the filler firmly into the repair. Smooth over with a wet blade prior to drying. Deep repairs should be built up in layers of no more than 10mm, ensuring that each layer is dry before the next layer is applied. Finish with a stain or varnish. Over paint with an oil based paint or varnish when used externally. Prime with a suitable sealer when overpainting with a water-based paint
